SINCE Drake wore one in his Hotline Bling video, the Moncler outlet puffer jacket has become a status symbol in outerwear.

The Hotline Bling clip alone sparked a huge surge in sales of the US $1150 red Maya puffer jacket, as seen on the Canadian rapper.

Sales of the garment more than doubled after the video was released in 2015, according to Vanity Fair, making Drake an unofficial face of the brand (he has since worn it frequently).

“We had a great result on the e-commerce sale of the Maya model,” a Moncler outlet spokesman told vanityfair.com at the time.

Hotline Bling — which has now had more than a billion views on YouTube — was a defining moment for Moncler, which had been close to bankrupsy in the early 2000s.

Nearly two years on from Drake’s now-iconic video, the French luxury brand has finally opened its first stand-alone store in Australia.

“It’s a country that I believe can become important for our brand,” Moncler president and chief executive Remo Ruffini said.

“We have planned to further consolidate our presence on both sides of the distribution channels, both retail and wholesale, through opening this shop-in-shop”.

Moncler outlet. You might be familiar with its clothing, not least because Drake wore one of the French-Italian label’s signature down jackets in the meme-generating film-clip for Hotline Bling two years ago.

The ultra-luxury brand has roots in outdoor clothing and sportswear, but has become known for those (very, very pricey) high-fashion quilted jackets – the core range of which is now available at Moncler’s first Australian store. It opened quietly in Melbourne in May at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini tells Broadsheet that Australia “can become very important” for the company.

“Australians already love Moncler outlet as they perfectly distinguish the real values of our brand,” he says. “Quality and creativity, innovation and originality are the values which set the foundation for Moncler.”

Established in 1952, the brand initially produced sleeping bags, tents and adventure products. Since 2003, under Ruffini’s creative direction, it has combined its sportswear technicality with a fashionable edge. Regular appearances at New York Fashion Week showcase the brand’s lines of outerwear and apparel for men and women.

Even before Drake shimmied around in a various coloured cubes in 2015, cheap Moncler’s longstanding reputation as a European luxury product has seen it make various appearances in pop culture history.

In 1968, the brand dressed the French ski team for the Winter Olympics. Throughout the ’80s, the trendsetting Italian Paninari youth subculture adopted cheap Moncler jackets as its uniform. Celebrities raised the brand’s international profile again in the 2000s, with names including Victoria Beckham and Tom Cruise spotted in the classic cheap Moncler jackets.

The Melbourne store carries the brand’s main collection for men and women plus knitwear. There is also a range of accessories including footwear, bags, backpacks and small leather goods, as well as the Moncler Enfant line for children. The Thom Browne-designed Moncler Gamme Bleu line will arrive in August.

Moncler’s New Short Film Moonray Is Sci-Fi B Movie Gold

Whether extraterrestrial-fashionistas are extending their influence into the farthest corners of the universe on social media remains to be seen. But apparently, style is a universal language that extends far beyond the Milky Way galaxy.

In Moncler’s new fashion film, two space explorers discover that extraterrestrial fashion has come a long way since E.T., Star Wars and District 9. A silver alien foe (or friend?) battles with the earthlings in a scene not dissimilar to those witnessed in queues for the latest mega-hyped streetwear drops. However, rather than a money gun, the Glaglax inhabitant comes armed with his “style-swapper gun,” and shots, quite literally, are fired.
